Feb 21 Understanding the Migrant Crisis - Erendira Rendon

Erendira Rendon, of the Resurrection Project, who works directly with migrants living in shelters, will help us understand why so many immigrants are arriving in our country, how our immigration statutes are inadequate, and what keeps immigrants in Chicago from obtaining work permits.

 

Feb 28 Why Do We Pray? - Deacon Richard Hudzik

Deacon Richard Hudzik is Director of Ongoing Formation for Deacons in the Archdiocese. He will describe what prayer is and what prayer does. He will help us find a way to pray that fits our personality, our aptitudes, and our life experience, so that prayer will truly deepen our relationship with God.

 

Mar 6 Music and the Liturgy - Wendy Silhavy

We are all called to full conscious participation in the liturgy. This includes sung prayer. Wendy Silhavy, Senior Coordinator for Liturgy and Music in the Office for Divine Worship, will speak about the role of sung prayer in the liturgy and how our understanding of music in the liturgy has evolved over the centuries.

 

Mar 13 Reaching the Next Generation - Shannon Schmidt

Young people are leaving Christianity at an alarming rate, yet they report a high interest in the message of Jesus. Shannon Schmidt, a former Director of Vicariate Renewal for the Archdiocese, will detail how the Church needs to change in order to welcome and accompany young people today.

 

Mar 20 The Night Before Jesus Died - Fr. Joseph Chamblain, O.S.M.

During this year of the Eucharistic Revival, Fr. Joe will examine what each Gospel tells us about the events of the Last Supper, how Eucharist fits into the Gospel as a whole, and what sharing in the Eucharist means for us today.
