Learn about carbon and methane

Try to better understand their impact on changing climate conditions in this country and around the world.

Meet the Methane Molecule. We hear a lot about our "carbon footprint" but methane is another powerful greenhouse gas, and is the second-largest contributor to climate warming after carbon dioxide. A molecule of methane traps more heat than a molecule of CO2.

Methane comes from both natural sources and human activities. An estimated 60% of today’s methane emissions are the result of human activities. The largest sources of methane are agriculture, fossil fuels, and decomposition of landfill waste.

Let us pray

Dear God, may the Laudato Sí Advent Calendar help me make a commitment to You and to my sisters and brothers and to live out that commitment wholeheartedly.  Amen.
