  • Provides free legal and counseling services to victims of domestic violence in Cook County including civil legal services and immigration
  • Offices in the Loop and Des Plaines, services available in various languages

  • Offers confidential, and free help available to callers/chat 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 
  • Highly trained advocates in more than 200 languages are available for victims or anyone calling on behalf of someone and any individuals in need of help.

  • Offers services in both English and Spanish for individuals who have been impacted by domestic violence.
  • Services include: youth counseling, housing, legal assistance, case management, and parish outreach.

  • Provides free holistic services and outreach across both immigrant and non-immigrant communities to help those impacted by gender violence. 
  • Services include: 24-crisis line, supervised visitation & safe exchange, legal advocacy, counseling, safe home, transitional housing, and case management.

  • Provides a wide range of services created to advance the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ), and the allied community of Chicago. 
  • Services include: LGBTQ violence resource line, trauma-focused therapy, therapy for survivors of violence, behavioral health therapy, youth therapy, group therapies, senior programs, community programs, HIV/HCV testing, short-term case management

  • Provides free services to women and children who have been affected by domestic violence.
  • Staff is bilingual and culturally diverse.
  • Services include: 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, individual/group counseling, legal advocacy, specialized services for 
  • children who have witnessed violence, housing/income/employment information, and life skills training.

Greenhouse Shelter (773-489-9081) 1116 N. Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60651

  • Run by CAWC, provides a safe refuge for women and children to go upon escaping abuse. Being one of the largest shelters in Chicago, it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 
  • Shelter includes: 24-hour service, 42 beds, multilingual services, 24-hour crisis line, counseling services, court advocacy, individual/group counseling, life skills, and referrals

  • Provides bilingual services for women and their children who have been affected by domestic violence.
  • Services include: transitional housing/domestic violence shelter, family violence recovery program, learning center, budgeting and money management, children’s services (day care, afterschool care), aftercare program, counseling, and professional women’s mentoring program

  • Provides family services at 8 locations that are all designed to strengthen families.
  • Services include (vary based on location): education centers for children, before and after school programs, career services, counseling services, employment resources, senior services and legal services.
  • Intake process is based on service needed.

  • Provides services to those affected by domestic violence on the West Side of Chicago and 22 West Suburban communities.
  • Services include: 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter referrals, transportation, housing assistance, counseling services, legal advocacy, prevention programs for school aged children, partner abuse intervention, and education training programs.

  • Provides services for people who have been affected by domestic violence.
  • Services include: 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter (up to 120 days), transitional and permanent housing (up to 2 years), counseling services, and mentoring services.
  • 24-hour crisis hotline – 847-221-5680
  • Intake process can be completed by calling 847-519-7820 or the crisis line (847-221-5680) if it is an emergency. If housing is needed and there is space, the intake coordinator will collect information and walk through the process.
