National Migration Week
 

National Migration Week will be observed by Catholics in the United States during the week of Jan 5-12. Assumption Parish will participate in the Migration Film Festival organized by the Immigration Parish Council. The event will take place during the last week of January, 2020.  Details about the date and films selected coming soon.

Immigration Ministry ANNUAL POSADA
 

XIV ANNUAL POSADA - SEEKING IMMIGRATION REFORM
Join us to walk and pray in solidarity with our immigrant sisters and brothers who — as the Holy Family sought a place to stay — are seeking legislative shelter, “Posada.”
Friday, December 13, 2019, 7 – 9 a.m.
101 West Congress Parkway / Ida B. Wells Parkway

The route will begin at ICE offices and march to the Metropolitan Correctional Center (71 West Van Buren Street) and continue to DePaul University Loop Campus (1 East Jackson Boulevard), Federal Plaza and St. Peter’s (110 West Madison Street).

Caring For Creation: Ethical and Spiritual Perspectives
 

This presentation by Fr. John Pawlikowski, O.S.M., Professor Emeritus of Social Ethics at Catholic Theological Union, an advisor to the Archdiocese of Chicago for the implementation of Laudato Si, Pope Francis’ encyclical on caring for our common home, will guide us through the Pope’s encyclical and help us understand why Pope Francis says that caring for creation is an integral part of Catholic teaching.
