The next preparation session for parents (and, if possible) godparents of infants to be baptized will be Monday August 3 from 7:00 to 8:15pm in the Rectory. The session is for new parents and for thsoe who have never before attended a preparation session. Call the parish office to register. Infant Baptisms normally take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 1:15pm and on the first weekend of the month during Mass.

Our annual picnic is slated for Sunday August 16 following the 12:15pm Mass. 

We will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary at all our weekend Masses, as we honor Assumption's 145 years of service to the people of Chicago and River North.

Not baptized? Not a Catholic? OCIA (The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) is for those over the age of 18 who have never been baptized, were baptized in another Christian religion and are considering becoming Catholic, and for those who were baptized Catholic but received little or no religious education.  Those who choose to continue with the process normally receive the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation at the first Mass of Easter. The group meets on Sunday mornings beginning in September. Contact Fr. Joe for more information. There will be an information session on Sunday August 30 at 11:30 in the Rectory.

2026 marks the 300th anniversary of the canonization of St. Peregrine, the fourteenth century Servite Friar known as The Cancer Saint. During the Jubilee Year, pilgrims may obtain a plenary indulgence by visiting a Servite church or shrine (like Assumption), spending time in Eucharistic Adoration, saying the Our Father and the creed, and invoking the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Peregrine.
