All Saints and All Souls

Saturday, November 1, is the Feast of All Saints, the day we honor all the faithful departed from every time and place who now share in the banquet of heaven. This Feast is not observed as a holyday of obligation when it falls on a Saturday or a Monday. Mass for All Saints will be celebrated at 7:30am Saturday morning. The 5:00pm Mass on November 1 and all the Masses on Sunday will be for the Feast of All Souls, a special day to remember and pray for our loved ones who have died, asking the Good Shepherd to welcome them into Paradise.

Baptism Preparation Session

The next preparation session for parents (and, if possible) godparents of infants to be baptized will be Monday November 10 from 7:00 to 8:15pm in the Rectory. The session is for new parents and for thsoe who have never before attended a preparation session. Call the parish office to register. Baptisms normally take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 1:15pm and on the first weekend of the month during Mass.

Bring a Turkey to Church

Assumption is helping Our Lady of the Angels Mission on the West Side provide a happier Thanksgiving to the many families they assist. Please bring a turkey to church on Sunday morning November 23. Drivers will be parked in front of church to receive the frozen birds and deliver them to Our Lady of the Angels. Drop-off times are 7:15 to 9:15 and 10:15 to 12:30 only. We are not accepting cash donations for turkeys, but you are welcome to donate to Assumption Shares, the food coupons we provide the needy, or our Refugee Assistance Fund.

Thanksgiving Day

The word "Eucharist" means "Thanksgiving." How appropriate to begin your family celebration of Thanksgiving by sharing in the Eucharist. Mass on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 27, will be at 7:30 and 10:30am. The 311 Garage will be open for the 10:30 Mass.
