About Saint Peregrine

St. Peregrine, the Servite Brother who was healed of cancer through prayer, is hardly a stranger at Assumption Church. He appears in one of the murals in the sanctuary, in one of the stained glass windowson the east side of the church, and in the large shrine at the rear of the church. Visitors to Assumption during the week often come specifically to pray at the St. Peregrine Shrine. In my other job as Director of the National Shrine of St. Peregrine at Our Lady of Sorrows, I am in contact with dozens and dozens of churches throughout the country that hold regular services, devotions, and Masses centered around the cancer saint.

Although best known as the cancer saint, St. Peregrine has been named the patron saint for all those living with life-threatening illnesses; and many people ask his intercession for healing of soul and spirit as well as for healing of physical ailments.

Saint Peregrine Devotion at Assumption Church

On Monday, we have a brief (10 minute) service in honor of St. Peregrine following the 12:10 Mass. The service consists of prayer, petitions, litany, and a blessing with the relic of St. Peregrine.
